Wake Up and Smell the Coffee
You gotta get in the van, you gotta carry your own load
You gotta do it yourself, hardcore on your own
Don't be no sucker, reach down and smack the street
We don't need no stars here, we don't need more sheep
=You gotta wake up and smell the coffee, now
Where the rubber meets the road you gotta get down
Rise above their little games, question every single thing they say
You got step right out, of the mainstream parade
Ain't got no time for posers, don't act a fashion show fool
Gotta be your own self, don't let them think for you
=
You gotta choose your seat, you gotta sit on down
You gotta do your own thing, you gotta go all out
Gonna get so real, it makes your head hurt
Can't waste precious time, grow up and go to work
Said wake up Boston, open your eyes all the way
Blow up your TV, see what's going on today

What a Month I Had Last Week
What a month I had last week -, the days had years packed up inside
What a month I had last week -, the days had years packed up inside
I can't get free now, no matter what tricks I (seem to) try
Moonlight out my window, watching the clouds blow away to die
Staring out my lonely window, watching the cloud people blow away to die
Wondering why you went away and left me, you never even said goodbye
I have a hole in my heart, it's with me everywhere I go
i have a hole in my empty heart, it's with me every single where that I go
Pray for understanding, but it's coming most too slow
Yet morning has to come, the sun will rise again some day
Morning has to come, night is followed by the day (to chase the night away)
No matter how strange or heavy, everything is going to (change) pass away
Waiting for a change now, a little hope is all I need
Waiting on my new day, with a little hope of change for me
Some lessons here to help me, from what a month I had last week

Already Home

ALREADY HOME
let them run from the city
let them run where they may
let them wait at the airport
home for the, holidays
i got no destination, got nowhere to go
i ain’t going nowhere, cause man i’m already home
i got no phone calls to answer
got no one to meet
i don’t look outside myself
to find the answers i need
you can say what you want to, but i’m never alone
where ever i’m at, i’m already home
someday you’ll do what you want to
someday you’ll speak your mind
you’ll take mommy and daddy
and leave them, far behind.
but you be careful about someday, man that shit never comes
i ain’t going nowhere, cause man i’m already home
i’ll stay put in the city
i’ll stay right where i am
you know where you can find me
being all the way that i am
don’t need no destination, don’t need nowhere to go
where ever i’m at, i’m already home
i ain’t going nowhere, cause man i’m already home

LIFE'S LIKE A RAILWAY STATION
well it's a beautiful morning to wake up inside a railway station again
god sure blessed america boy, and on that you can depend
but i just lost my job, and i can't even buy a friend
back on the pavement and i'm , i'm heading up those subway stairs
my clothes were dirty you know, i was drawing some glares
went down to church but they charged, 50 bucks to say a prayer
life's like a railway station, and the train is always on the way
tomorrow will be perfect but it's, just a day away
always on the way, but just a day away
there's a million pushers they're selling, a million different kinds of dope
there's vendors in the vatican smiling, they're selling pope soap on a rope
there's wheelchairs in the whitehouse, and they're looking through their rose colored, telescopes
they're building buildings towers, they're babbling up into the sky
politicians are smiling but there's, more to the mouth than meets the eye
they're bored to tears but they don't stop and ask themselves why
life's like a railway station, we're watching the trains as they fly
standing on the platform and we're, we're watching ourselves go by
we wonder why, life's passing us by
so i'll pick up my bag and i will, head for that railroad again
don't know what i'm running from, but i been doing it since i don't know when
try to fit in the real world but i, just can't make myself pretend
life's like a railway station, we're running down a one way track
we miss the moment cause we're, we're always looking back
but you can never go back, life's a one way track
life's a one way track........

Get Some Blues
First you want it, but you can't get it
First you want it, but you can't get it
First you want it, but you can't get it
It's like a drug, but you don't notice
It's like a drug, but you don't notice
=If you breathing long enough
Time as it goes by
You..... got to get some Blues
Then you get it, but you don't want it
Then you get it, but you don't want it
Then you get it, but you don't want it
This is how, we get older
This is how, we get older
=
First it chases you, you run from it
First it chases you, you run from it
First it chases you, you run from it
But somehow, you never notice
Somehow, you never notice
Then you get it, you can't hold it
Then you get it, you can't hold it
Then you get it, you can't hold it
The ice cream cone, is always melting
The ice cream cone, is always melting
=
Sun comes up, sun goes down
Sun comes up, sun goes down
Sun comes up, sun goes down
You wanna fix it
You wanna hold it

In Your Way

WHEN YOU GET IN YOUR WAY
they stockmarket's falling, the greyhound is calling
but somehow the sky looks ok,
the curtain is closing, the factory's frozen
the sun it came up anyway.
and it’s so hard, when you get in your way.
the wait in line chatter, it don't seem to matter
the buses just go, round and round.
roadmaps on faces, of ambulance chasers
they never lost, what you've found.
and it’s so hard, when you get in your way
the houses are grown up, the kids are all sewn up
growing back into the ground.
the railroad is rotten, the empire's forgotten,
to make the stop in this town
and it’s so hard, when you get in your way
you feel so empty, that the wind it could take you,
up if it blew the right way.
snowballing rabbits, it's just a habit,
that met you for coffee one day
and it’s so hard, when you get in your way
